The National Information Technology development Agency Computer Emergency Readiness and Response Team (NITDA CERRT) is a Unit of the Agency established April, 2014 in response to the increase in the rate of cybercrime and in fulfilment of the requirements of the National Cybersecurity Strategy. By implication of NITDA’s mandate, NITDA-CERRT functions as a government cert, coordinating and facilitating information sharing, providing mitigation strategies and recommendations for incident response and recovery, researching and analyzing trends and patterns of incident activity for government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with extension to the private sector as well. 

The NCC-CSIRT is the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) for the Nigerian telecommunications industry spearheaded by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The NCC-CSIRT provides an official point of contact for dealing with computer security incidents for the Nigerian telecommunications industry. NCC-CSIRT collaborates with the public sector, MNOs (Mobile Network Operators), ISPs (Internet Service Providers), other telecommunications service providers and stakeholders to handle computer security incidents affecting the telecommunications industry. NCC-CSIRT aspires to be a full and active member of the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST) and will coordinate with trusted CSIRTs both globally and regionally in responding to computer security incidents.

The Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Unit was established in 2017. The unit is domiciled at the National Central Bureau(NCB) Abuja. The Unit is currently headed by DCP Uche Ifeanyi Henry. The unit is equipped with modern forensic tools which are manned by well-trained detectectives with IT background. It has an enhanced capability to analyze various digital devices, collect evidence with high tech digital forensic equipment, examine documents of various file types and analyze header information. The personnel are also trained in gathering of intelligence, generating report with detailed approach and auditing trail to support the intergrity of the investigation process. We also provide expert witness testimony in support of forensic examination conducted by the examiner.
